Beginner EEG setup questions

I have done some meditation in the past, and while I was able to apply myself in 10 day silent retreats, I have had not much success applying myself meditating at home.

Do you think tools like Muse can seriously support mediation practice?

I am keen to get an EEG device which could best support and refine meditation practice and potentially interest my 20 and 18 year olds to get interested to aid their concentration for study and help reduce anxiety as well as getting the overall benefits of meditation.

Muse seems to be an attractive entry level option. But would it be better to jump in deeper with systems like emotiv or versus or something else?

My major criteria is that the device is of real usefulness. The simplicity of Muse is appealing as long as its functionality is meaningful.

I don’t mind graduating to a better system later provided the entry level one got me to a useful point to launch in further from.

EDIT:
I am continuing to read various posts on this site and there seems to be a consensus that while the Versus is good it ignores meditation largely and focuses on developing the zone in sport - I have looked at there promotion material and they seem to think they can be useful for meditators, but not in a particularly developed way - Is this right?
