No alpha waves detected in the occipital region while EOG signals are detectable in the front region. Is that possible? What could be some solutions?

Long story short, I’m trying a pair of wet electrodes without the GND. I managed to detect a quite neat EOG signal which I guess would mean that I wouldn’t need the GND electrode? I haven’t managed to detect any alpha signal. Is it even possible to be able to detect a very neat EOG but no alpha?
