Research Questions

HI all,

I have created a task in the psychopy (python based) software and we have coded a Logitech controller (F-310) for the participants responses. We are having a difficult time figuring out what buttons to use on the controller, but we were advised to use the controller due to the quick reaction time in the coding for our event markers.

I am unable to find any previous literature that discusses this. Does anyone know of any articles that used a controller and which buttons they used. Would it be best for us to only use the right hand for responses?

From looking at the photo of the controller, the right hand buttons, X Y A B do look like they would be the most obvious choice. With A or B the thumb even has to ‘reach’ less.

The joysticks and the left hand button (cross shape) are going to be too awkward and not an obvious ‘binary’ on/off response.

Thank you. This was very helpful, we did not think of that!
