About a year ago, about 3-4 minutes after doing a Sam Harris guided meditation, I walked into the kitchen and had an urge to urinate. Usually, especially at my age and when turning on the water, I get an uncomfrotably moderate urge that can last for 20-30 seconds. This time, it was very minimal, and it lasted just 1-2 seconds. I didn’t think much of it. Then, a minute later, I got a cramp in my right foot. This is not unusal for me, and they are just mild to moderately uncomfortable. However, on this occasion, I felt very removed. It was just something going on in my body, and I couldn’t care less. In other words, I had much more distance from it than usual. The whole “different experience” only lasted about 10 minutes, I would guess
So, I have always thought that perhaps I just happened to settle into a “new” type of brain wave—of course, at least, new to my everyday experience. And, if this is the case, I’m wondering if EEG biofeedback would be helpful in achieving this type of state more regularly. Incidentally, though this event occurred after a meditation session, my medition is still very superficial, and mostly, if I must admit, involves daydreaming. Though with the guided meditation, at least I was focusing some of the time.
Thanks for your time.
